Cannes film market to go virtual

The Cannes film market has been set to take place online amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Sources said that a virtual version of the Cannes film market, the Marché du Film, will begin in late June.

This is while the fate of the 2020 edition of the Cannes Film Festival is still unclear and it remains unknown when or whether it will take place this year.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced Cannes to postpone the film festival, which was scheduled to take place on May 12-23.

The flu-like deadly virus originated in China in late 2019 and later spread to many other countries.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus a global pandemic.

More than 2.06 million people have been infected with the novel virus across the globe, and at least 137,000 people have died from the virus worldwide, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
